HMS 2 (Heavy Melting Steel – Grade 2)
Shin Ocean Inc. offers clean and economically viable HMS 2 scrap, comprised of thinner gauge steel (minimum 3.175 mm or 1/8 inch) including painted, coated, or lightly rusted pieces. Lighter than HMS 1, HMS 2 is a valuable component in mixed furnace loads, often used to adjust the charge balance and increase melting efficiency. Our HMS 2 is pre-sorted and prepared for export in compliance with ISRI codes.
Where It’s Used & Why It Matters:
- Steel Foundries: Ideal for quick-melt batches in medium-duty steel operations, including small tools, castings, and base materials.
- Construction Support Materials: Repurposed into angles, flat bars, and roofing reinforcements in regional infrastructure projects.
- Furnace Blending: Mixed with HMS 1 to create a balanced charge for optimized furnace performance and fuel efficiency.
