HMS 1 Scrap

HMS 1 (Heavy Melting Steel – Grade 1)

Shin Ocean Inc. delivers premium-grade HMS 1 scrap, consisting of heavy steel and wrought iron with a minimum thickness of 6.35 mm (1/4 inch), free from galvanized, coated, or excessively rusted material. Our HMS 1 is sourced from reliable dismantling yards and demolition projects across North America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. With its high density and clean composition, HMS 1 is a preferred raw material in electric arc furnaces and induction melting operations around the world.
Where It’s Used & Why It Matters:

  • Steel Re-rolling Mills: Reprocessed into billets, rebars, and structural beams for construction and infrastructure.
  • Shipbuilding & Heavy Engineering: Used in casting and forging of frames, shafts, and marine equipment due to its robust mass.
  • Railway & Automotive Industries: Recycled into axle casings, rail clips, and automotive chassis where strong foundational steel is needed.
  • Metal Fabrication Plants: Melted down to manufacture pipes, tubes, and industrial machine components.
  • Recycling-Driven Steel Production: Saves 74% of the energy compared to making virgin steel from iron ore — crucial for low-carbon manufacturing.
